Brooklyn meets Milwaukee at Hotel Metro...

Last night, I joined fellow Milwaukee foodies and food bloggers for a Brooklyn meets Milwaukee meet up at the Hotel Metro on Milwaukee St. Nicole and Melissa, the Brooklyn ladies who hosted the event, spoke  about sustainable growing, brewing and beekeeping in Brooklyn {did you know that up until recently, bee keeping was illegal in NYC!}while Hotel Metro Executive Chef Justin Johnson and owner Jamie Hummert spoke about the hotel's sustainable food, building and operations practices. To see how Hotel Metro stays green and how they became the first hotel in Milwaukee to be certified by Travel Green Wisconsin, click here...

We started out our evening with appetizers from Executive Chef Justin Johnson. One of the delicious options was a Viking Village Seared Sea Scallops with Sweetwater Organic Mixed Greens, Raspberry Foam, LaClare Farms Aged Goat Cheese and a Cucumber Vinaigrette placed atop crusty bread... It was amazing; so sweet, yet savory and light!

We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Josie form Top Chef! She was an absolute riot; so much energy and so much fun!

On a tour of the hotel... such a beautiful building! The building was built in 1937 and was an office building prior to it's abandonment in the 1980's. When the current owners decided to purchase and renovate the building in the mid-90's, they decided to maintain the 1930's Art Moderne look and feel.

Such an amazing time at the Hotel Metro! And I met so many wonderful people, you can check out their blogs here...
